6. Matthew Goode Is Dracula - Abigail

Though Abigail is a reimagining of the 1936 Universal vampire film Dracula's Daughter, its title was changed during production, seemingly in an attempt to maintain an air of mystery leading up to the movie's big climactic reveal.

We learn early in the film that "young" kidnap victim Abigail (Alisha Weir) is the daughter of Kristof Lazaar, a powerful figure in the criminal underworld.

But even once it's revealed that Abigail herself is a vampire, the dots don't quite connect - not until "Lazaar" himself shows up in the film's final scene

Though the word "Dracula" isn't ever spoken aloud, Lazaar - as played by Matthew Goode - says that he's "gone by many names over the countless years," very clearly implying him to be Dracula.

Yet the reference comes so out of left-field at the end of the movie that some viewers have even speculated that Universal toned down the Dracula element after two of their recent Dracula-centric movies, Renfield and The Last Voyage of the Demeter, flopped catastrophically at the box office.

Given that Abigail itself underperformed commercially regardless, though, it didn't seem to help much.
