2. Spiral: From The Book Of Saw
The marketing for the Saw movies tends to play things pretty vague, as part of their desire to hook fans but not let slip anything that might clue them into the inevitable plot twist.
While Spiral's trailers didn't really do too much to give away the identity of the actual Jigsaw copycat, they did include a completely pointless glimpse at the film's final trap.
Spiral ends with Zeke's (Chris Rock) father Marcus (Samuel L. Jackson) shot to death by the police after he gets strung up like a puppet (get it?), and his arms, which are rigged with shotguns, are raised up towards the cops.
For some reason, the final trailer for Spiral actually shows off the shot of Marcus in the trap, guns and all, and while it perhaps wasn't quite enough for fans to guess exactly what was coming, it was still way more information than they needed to see.
The golden rule of a good Saw trailer is that it doesn't show anything from the final 10 minutes of the movie, and it's a rule that Spiral enthusiastically broke.
