10 Recent Movie Trailers That Gave Too Much Away
1. Black Widow
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has generally done a fantastic job of concealing spoilers in its marketing, even making a concerted effort to mislead fans by including fake footage cooked up specifically for the trailer - most ingeniously with Avengers: Infinity War's faux hero shot of the assembled superheroes.
Disappointing it was, then, that the most recent trailers for Black Widow didn't make much of an effort to actively mislead as to the real identity of the villainous Taskmaster.
Though fans initially believed Taskmaster could actually be either O-T Fagbenle's Rick Mason or Rachel Weisz's Melina Vostokoff, more recent trailers suggested otherwise.
First off, the telling image of Dreykov (Ray Winstone) huddling close to Taskmaster suggested the masked antagonist was someone close to him, most likely a family member, and going by Dreykov's body language, probably a female family member.
As a result, many speculated in the weeks leading up to the film's release that Taskmaster would turn out to be Dreykov's daughter, and that's precisely what happened.
More surprisingly, Dreykov's daughter Antonia ended up being played by Olga Kurylenko. Well, it would've been surprising, if the movie's opening credits didn't needless namedrop her instead of having her play the part uncredited. Oof.
