10 Recent Movie Trailers That Spoiled WAY Too Much
7. The Spider-Women - Madame Web
Beyond making it clear that it's a very bad movie, Madame Web's trailers proved cynically overzealous when it came to freely showing off the Spider-Women.
The trailers featured numerous clips of Julia Cornwall (Sydney Sweeney), Anya Corazon (Isabela Merced), and Mattie Franklin (Celeste O'Connor) in their Spider-Woman costumes, suggesting of course that they would become suited-up superheroes by the film's third act.
Except, we see the Spider-Women for mere seconds throughout the film, as visions experienced by villain Ezekiel Sims (Tahar Rahim), and a brief sequel-baiting glimpse in the movie's final scene.
Obviously Sony were desperate to sell this movie to audiences by any means necessary, but in turn they showed audiences most of the cool superhero money shots for free.
Word quickly spread about the subterfuge on opening weekend, and Madame Web's dire box office fate was promptly sealed.
If the filmmakers were so acutely against giving the costumed Spider-Women substantial screen time in this film, then they probably should've kept the suits out of the trailers completely.
