6. Jesse Plemons' Cameo - Civil War
Though cameos aren't necessarily huge spoilers, in the case of Jesse Plemons' surprise role in Alex Garland's Civil War, it would've been even more jolting if we didn't know about it beforehand.
Plemons shows up for roughly 10 minutes in the middle of the movie as the unnamed leader of a uniformed militia who the central journalists cross paths with, just as the militia are burying civilians they presumably murdered in a mass grave.
Plemons' intense calm in the role is absolutely terrifying, and though the trailers only provided a brief glimpse of his presence, did it really need to be given away at all?
Given that a later clip in the main trailer shows journalist Joel (Wagner Moura) screaming by the same gravesite, it's easy to piece together that things quickly devolve into brutality.
This excellent scene would've hit even harder if we had no idea that Plemons was going to show up totally outta nowhere.
