8. The Changed Ending - Speak No Evil

The moment that a remake of Danish-Dutch 2022 thriller Speak No Evil was announced, many predicted that the third act would deviate from the bleak original finale and deliver up something far more crowd-pleasing - and that's precisely what it did.
If last year's remake stayed entirely true to the original, it would've ended with serial killers Paddy (James McAvoy) and Ciara (Aisling Franciosi) murdering their faux-son Ant (Dan Hough) alongside Louise (Mackenzie Davis) and Ben (Scoot McNairy), before taking Louise and Ben's daughter Agnes (Alix West Lefler) in as their own and cutting out her tongue. Yep.
The remake instead ends with Ant, Louise, and Ben not only surviving, but killing Paddy and Ciara.
Though the finale is still visceral and ultra-violent, it's also been undeniably sanitised to be more broadly appealing to mainstream multiplex audiences.
Even less surprising than this revision of the original ending was the fact that original director Christian Tafdrup hated the third act changes.
