6. Sherry Is In On The Heist - Novocaine
The moment that the first trailer for Novocaine dropped, many online registered something fishy about the titular protagonist's (Jack Quaid) love interest Sherry (Amber Midthunder), who Novocaine must rescue after she's kidnapped by bank robbers.
A lot of people near-instantly vocalised the probability that Sherry actually isn't quite the damsel-in-distress she appears to be, but is actually in on on the heist.
After all, why hire an actress as badass as Prey's Amber Midthunder to be a hapless hostage?
Well, that's 100% on the money. Midway through the film, we learn that Sherry isn't merely in league with the thieves - she's also the sister of the ringleader, Simon (Ray Nicholson).
And though Sherry ultimately decides to help Novocaine take her brother down, she still ends up spending a year in prison for her role in the heist.
The predictability isn't a huge issue in this case, though if the filmmakers wanted it to be a genuine twist, they might've been better off casting a less action-capable or notable actress in the role of Sherry.
