3. Over-Explaining The Alien Invasion - A Quiet Place: Day One
A big problem facing almost every franchise prequel is the tendency for them to over-explain key aspects of the overarching lore, demystifying it to the extent that it's actually a lot less interesting once all the cards are on the table.
This was certainly an expectation of A Quiet Place: Day One, whose title seemed to imply it would lay bare the particulars of how the series' alien invasion kicked off. But filmmaker Michael Sarnoski clearly had little interest in poring over that fateful day in forensic detail, opting instead to focus the story on two embattled people as they simply try to make it through the day in one piece.
Though we do see the beginnings of the invasion, the monsters almost always play second fiddle to the human drama at the center, enough that they still maintain a sense of mystery and intrigue. Given that A Quiet Place Part III is currently in the works, it was incredibly smart not to reveal too much about the creatures or their origins in this prequel.
