When the sequel to the outstanding Into the Spider-Verse was first announced, it was initially going to be split into two parts. Though Across the Spider-Verse Part 2 would eventually become Beyond the Spider-Verse, it was all but certain the two outings would tell a single story, and that one would lead into the other.

After one of the best comic book movies in recent years, Across the Spider-Verse more than stuck the landing with an ending that couldn't have heightened expectations and anticipation for the follow-up anymore.

With the Spot coming for Miles' father on Earth-1610, a canon event that Miguel O'Hara demanded he let happen, Spider-Man fled the Spider Society to the wrong universe. Here he was kidnapped by Earth-42's version of his Uncle Aaron, aka the Prowler, who just so happened to be a multiversal version of himself. With Spider-Man 2099 already hunting Miles down, Gwen built a team of her own - filled with familiar characters from the first Spider-Verse film - to get to Miles first.

The final moments of Across the Spider-Verse were unbelievably tense, and sets up Beyond the Spider-Verse to be one of the most anticipated superhero movies of all time.
