10 Recent Movies That Perfectly Set Up Incredible Sequels

Sherlock Holmes is a franchise that has been done and done over the years, with three separate iterations of the character existing since 2009. Robert Downey Jr., Benedict Cumberbatch, and Johnny Lee Miller have each had unique and different takes on the character, but three at one time is still a lot.

Even so, Netflix got in on the act in 2020, casting Henry Cavill as the master detective, but not quite in the role the character is used to. Instead, Sherlock took more of a backseat, allowing his sister Enola to thrive in the spotlight; something that was continued through the sequel.

With a potential third movie in the series, Enola and Sherlock's dynamic, their relationship, and their work as a detective duo would continue to evolve as they would track down Mira Troy. Mira, this adaptation's version of Moriarty, escaped at the end of Enola Holmes 2, which is a thread that is just begging to be pulled at again.

Add in the fact that Dr. John Watson was introduced for the first time in something of a cameo and a tease for further appearances, it seems foolish for Netflix not to throw everything Enola and co. have against Mira in the threequel.
