10 Recent Movies That Reignited A Dying Franchise
1. Thunderbolts*
It's no secret that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has struggled since the end of the Infinity Saga and the beginning of the Multiverse Saga. The likes of Thor: Love and Thunder, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Ant-Man: Quantumania disappointed massively, while The Marvels and Captain America: Brave New World flopped at the box office despite being far from terrible. Even Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 failed to reach the heights of its two predecessors.
Of course, it hasn't been all bad in the post-Endgame world, but the two biggest highs have been Spider-Man: No Way Home and Deadpool & Wolverine, both of which relied heavily on nostalgic fan service.
That was the case until Thunderbolts* released, marking the best MCU entry since Avengers: Endgame. This felt like Marvel was back in its prime, with a perfect mix of compelling action, genuinely funny humour, and real emotion. Plus, for good measure, a post-credit scene that actually teased what is coming next, rather than something tacked on that likely won't go anywhere.
This was the first MCU film in a long time that gave hope for the future of the wider franchise without having to rely on bringing in Fox or Sony characters, and with The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and both Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars coming up, this could be the beginning of an unprecedented run in Marvel Studios history.
