10 Recent Movies That Reignited A Dying Franchise
5. Inside Out 2

Over the years, Disney Pixar has set itself an incredibly high standard, something that unfortunately has struggled to be met over the last few years. Since Toy Story 4, the likes of Onward, Soul, Turning Red, Lightyear, and Elemental have not been without merit, but have fallen below expectations.
This goes in terms of both critical reception and box office figures. Of course, many of these were hampered by the pandemic and straight-to-Disney+ releases, but even Elemental brought in less than $500 million on a reported budget of approximately $200 million.
Enter, Inside Out 2. The movie that continued Riley's coming-of-age story, taking her through puberty and the new emotions that come with it, took the world by storm. It may have fallen short of the original film's brilliance, but it was still an emotional story that hit all the right notes you'd expect from Pixar.
Not only was this easily the best effort from Disney Pixar in years, it absolutely smashed the box office and is, at the time of writing, the 9th highest-grossing movie of all time. The next two Pixar releases are original films in Elio and Hoppers, but after that comes three sequels in a row, Toy Story 5, Coco 2, and Incredibles 3. With numbers like this, is it any surprise that more and more sequels keep getting made?
