10 Recent Movies That Should've Ended Earlier
6. Y2K
Post-apocalyptic horror film Y2K ends with Eli (Jaeden Martell) and Laura (Rachel Zegler) triumphing over the Amalgamation - an algorithm which causes all technology to murderously rise up against humanity at the turn of the millennium.
After the day is saved, Eli and Laura get a cute little moment together where they finally confess their feelings for each other, kiss, and the camera then glides into the sky to survey the havoc wrought by the Amalgamation.
The End, right? Not quite.
An epilogue cuts to five years later, where Eli and Laura visit the graves of their fallen friends, before their pal Ash's (Lachlan Watson) iPod starts to glitch out, revealing that the algorithm is still alive and planning a return.
For starters, this is the most generic, predictable horror movie sequel bait imaginable, and secondly, hilariously little effort was made to make the survivors look five years older, ensuring the entire epilogue feels like a slapdash, tossed-off scene that had to be shot in a hurry.
The movie is basically over once the villain is defeated and the heroes have kissed - this lackluster extra scene is just self-indulgent.
