2. Baby Invasion
Baby Invasion is the latest cinematic s**tpost from Harmony Korine, who rather than continue making indie hits in the vein of his acclaimed Gummo and Spring Breakers, recently decided that conventional filmmaking is just too damn boring for him.
In 2023, Korine released Aggro Dr1ft - an action-thriller shot entirely in infrared, and last year followed up with Baby Invasion - a thriller in which a group of armed criminals break into a house.
The twist? The entire film is shot from a first-person perspective in the vein of a video game, and AI technology has been used to replace the faces of the criminals with those of babies.
And honestly, should we really have expected anything else from a director who named his own production company "EDGLRD"?
While some have praised Korine for daring to tinker around with cinema as we know it, others have dismissed Baby Invasion as a restless exercise in messing with the audience - and one which wears out its welcome in record time.
