3. Megalopolis
There are certainly those who consider Megalopolis to be Francis Ford Coppola's entirely serious-minded attempt at a career-capping magnum opus.
But c'mon - this is a movie where Shia LaBeouf plays a fascist demagogue called Clodio Pulcher, and Jon Voight pretends that the crossbow he's hiding under his duvet is, in his words, a "boner," which he promptly fires into the chest of Aubrey Plaza's Wow Platinum.
There's no denying that Megalopolis was Coppola's decades-in-the-making passion project, but it's also far less serious business than many were expecting.
Far from his greatest triumphs - namely, The Godfather franchise and Apocalypse Now - Megalopolis is an unexpected farce which caught just about everyone watching off-guard.
This isn't to say that Megalopolis is some misunderstood work, because it absolutely isn't, but it was nevertheless fascinating to see such a celebrated filmmaker deliver something so peculiar, so intentionally opposed to his most celebrated films, in the twilight of his life and career.
