1. Chaos Walking

Death On The Nile
Lionsgate

Chaos Walking was released in 2021, after production ended in 2017. This long delay was caused by extensive reshoots - reported to have cost $15 million - after the original cut fared so poorly with test audiences much of it had to be rewritten.

These reshoots hit a major bump, though, when stars Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley were off filming other projects (Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, respectively). Production was then put on hold for a year.

As expected, it wasn't worth the effort. Chaos Walking, for all the work and re-work that went into it, was a dismal failure, raking in a weak $25 million against a $125 million budget, and an endless parade of scathing reviews.

It's fair to say Lionsgate only agreed to release it so they'd have something to show after cinemas opened back up from the pandemic. Based on how much they lost, though, and how little everyone cared for it, it probably would've been best to let Chaos Walking go.
