10 Recent Movies That Were Sent Out To Die
2. Eden
Ron Howard's new survival thriller Eden had its splashy premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival last September, and despite receiving mixed reviews was expected to get a substantial theatrical release this year, considering its all-star cast including Jude Law, Ana de Armas, Vanessa Kirby, Sydney Sweeney, and Daniel Brühl.
Yet word on Eden went dead silent for more than six months after its premiere, before the film was bizarrely released in just Italy and Germany back in April.
Around this time the U.S. distribution rights were finally picked up by Vertical, a distributor with a tendency to acquire movies no other studio wants and then quietly release them to paltry box office returns.
Though Eden is now finally set for an August 22 release in the U.S., it's clearly going to come and go without making a dent, unaided by the fact that it was recently released on streaming internationally, meaning that HD pirate copies of the film are already out in the wild.
It's almost impressive to bungle the global rollout of a star-studded movie quite this badly, honestly.
