7. Dark Crimes
As enticing as the prospect of seeing Jim Carrey play a dour Polish detective might seem on paper, it's tough to fathom what attracted him or really anyone else to this utterly rancid crime thriller.
Slow and intensely tedious despite its mere 92-minute runtime, Dark Crimes spent more than 18 months languishing on a studio shelf after its original festival premiere, and that's with good reason.
Despite the presence of Carrey as well as the talented likes of Charlotte Gainsbourg and Marton Csokas, this self-consciously grim murder-mystery is pure cinematic white noise.
It's the sort of infuriatingly tiresome film sure to leave audiences tuning out and perhaps even drifting off if they watch it late enough at night. It's Carrey's worst project by a country mile - at least The Number 23 was fun trash.
