6. 365 Days
For those who found the Fifty Shades franchise both too subtle and not ridiculous enough, we have 365 Days, a Polish erotic drama similarly based on a trilogy of trashy novels.
The setup is simple and yet grossly offensive - a young woman (Anna-Maria Sieklucka) is kidnapped by a sexy criminal (Michele Morrone) who imprisons her for a year in the hope of making her falling in love with him.
It doesn't take a genius to figure out how head-smackingly tone-deaf such a premise comes across in 2020, and the film makes troublingly little effort to engage with how utterly problematic the "plot" actually is.
Though the sex scenes are a touch more risque than in Fifty Shades, its sexual politics are so unconscionably awful as to destroy any potentially titillation.
Yet with how much of a viral success it's become courtesy of its Netflix release, we can probably assume a sequel will be on the way sooner rather than later.
In the very least, the only way from here is up, right?
