10 Recent Post-Credits Movie Scenes That Went Nowhere

In X-Men: Apocalypse, Professor X's students get kidnapped by the mutant experimental group, Weapon X. After breaking out of their cell, they release one of the prisoners, unaware that it's Wolverine.

After the credits, government agents storm the facility and have their underlings remove all evidence that anything happened there. Even though we can see these men taking samples of Wolverine's blood, we don't know who they are at first.

Only in the last second does the penny drop (at least for comic fans). The final shot shows the label "ESSEX CORP" on an agent's suitcase, insinuating they work for Nathaniel Essex, better-known as Mister Sinister.

Because Sinister is a master geneticist obsessed with cloning the perfect lifeform, it makes sense that he would covet Wolverine's DNA. So, when it was announced that the following X-Men film, Logan, would revolve around Wolverine teaming up with a girl cloned from his blood, fans assumed Sinister would factor into the story somehow.

But it never came to be. Despite the fact the insidious supervillain was rumoured to pop up in Deadpool 2, X-Men Dark Phoenix, or The New Mutants, Sinister has yet to appear in live-action.
