10 Recent Post-Credits Movie Scenes That Went Nowhere
5. Hellboy (2019)
With rumours of last-minute rewrites, arguments with producers, and actors storming off set, it wasn't unexpected that 2019's Hellboy turned out to be a misaligned mess. With jokes falling flat, shoddy CGI, and choppy editing, this reboot failed to capture the essence of the original film or the source material.
Nevertheless, somebody thought the movie would be a hit since the filmmakers chucked in two post-credit scenes. One of the scenes has Hellboy grieving by his mentor's gravestone. He is interrupted by Hellboy's idol, Lobster Johnson, causing him to geek out.
Since this scene has nothing to do with the story, it's more of a gag rather than a stinger.
However, the other post-credit sequence was unmistakably meant to set up a sequel. In this scene, Baba Yaga implores an unseen entity to hunt down Hellboy. If successful, Baba Yaga agrees to give her guest his greatest desire:
Death.
Although this character isn't named or seen, it's supposed to be Korschei the Deathless - an immortal being who faced Hellboy in the story, Darkness Calls. Anyone who hoped to see this character on the big-screen will have to wait a little longer since there's no plans for a sequel.
