6. Predators (2010)
RottenTomatoes Score - 52% Compared To - Predator (1987) - 87% Yet another high point of Schwarzenegger's career was 1987's Predator, which saw his obligatory muscle-bound hero share a jungle environment with the titular being, which naturally picks off all of his colleagues (including Carl Weathers and Jesse 'The Body' Ventura) one by one. Tense throughout, the film was followed by a sequel in the form of Predator 2, which moved the action to Los Angeles. This has been largely forgotten about, however, as have two godawful crossovers with the Alien franchise, Alien vs. Predator and Alien vs. Predator: Requiem, that were released in the mid noughties. Robert Rodriguez, best known for directing the film adaptation of Sin City and creating the El Mariachi and Spy Kids series of films, sought to end the run of poor follow-ups in 2010 by producing an adaptation of his own script, Predators. Directed by Nimrod Antal, this was ostensibly a sequel to the original film, which it returned to the formula of by having a number of individuals, led by Adrien Brody, confront the alien species in a jungle environment. An interesting twist aside, the film suffered from poorly-written characters. Though its box office receipts and only slightly below average critical reception warranted the announcement of a sequel in 2014. It remains to be seen if this is still on the cards, however, given the lack of any news since.
