10 Recently Announced Movies That Will Probably Never Happen
6. Return To Silent Hill
For years, Silent Hill director Christophe Gans has kept telling fans that a third big screen adaptation of the hit video game franchise is in the works, no matter that previous sequel Silent Hill: Revelation - which Gans didn't direct - was a box office disappointment.
According to Gans, he was given the greenlight by game publisher Konami to pen a script for a new Silent Hill film in an attempt to rejuvenate the series' public profile.
And in October, the movie was officially announced as Return to Silent Hill - a new standalone film which will adapt Silent Hill 2, with principal photography apparently expected to begin next February.
But how many times have we heard about movies that are definitely, positively shooting in a few months, only for that date to keep getting pushed back and it never going before cameras?
As much as Silent Hill fans desperately want a new movie, and horror is one of the few reliable money-spinners at the box office since the pandemic, it's difficult to believe it's going to happen until we start seeing photos from the set. Gans' enthusiasm and persistence is encouraging, at least.
