10 Rejected Movie Actors Who NAILED It Second Time Around
2. Henry Cavill Gets Rejected For Superman
You would've forgiven Henry Cavill for calling it a day on the back of being dealt two rather devastating rejections when in the running to star as a pair of characters unlike any others.
But whereas the hulking Brit has still yet to don a suit and order a martini under the 007 banner, at least Cavill finally got a chance to fulfil his Superman dream later on in life.
Jumping back to that initial Super-rejection, though, a whole ten years before getting to suit up in Man of Steel, that film's producer Charles Roven admitted that Cavill was very much being lined up as the next Clark Kent.
However, that feature, penned by J.J. Abrams and potentially directed by McG, never got out of the blocks fully. And upon Bryan Singer taking over directorial duties and deciding the film would act as a continuation of the Christopher Reeve arc, Cavill was ultimately swapped out for Brandon Routh instead.
In all honesty, Cavill simply wouldn't have meshed as well as Routh did in Singer's version of this Super-story. So, his rejection likely worked out best for all involved, paving the way for a much grittier and more compelling Kal-El in Zack Snyder's universe.
