10 Remakes We Will Inevitably See In The Next 20 Years

7. Planet Of The Apes

Planet of the Apes Yes, there was already a remake of this a few years ago. But nobody liked that movie and it's gone mostly disregarded even as the franchise has found new legs with Rise of the Planet of the Apes. With the incredibly positive reaction from fans and critics to that first prequel, and another slated for a 2014 release, there's no reason to expect this franchise to slow down any time in the near future. As long as the movies continue to perform, it's reasonable to anticipate a return to the story that started it all. A Planet of the Apes remake made more in line with the prequels could be released with little to no controversy as no one really takes the Tim Burton version seriously enough to treat it as canon in light of a newer, better take on the mythology. Expect to see this a few years down the line.

Jordan Schaeffer has many pan-nerdly interests. Said interests include but are not limited to: Comics, old horror movies, comics, video games, TV shows of a certain caliber, and comics. Ask him anything about The Venture Brothers. He is American, but is starting to get a sneaking suspicion that everyone else on WhatCulture! is British.
