Green Room was a surprise hit of 2015, a tense thriller that has the rare distinction of being one of the very few truly terrifying horror films of modern times (along with movie's like It Follows and The Babadook).

The film follows the members of a band (including the late Anton Yelchin) who are besieged in a club by neo-Nazis after witnessing a murder. The neo-Nazi's are led by a man called Darcy, who, surprisingly, is played by Shakespearean actor and Star Trek and X-Men legend Sir Patrick Stuart.

What makes Darcy so great as a villain is that it isn't Patrick Stuart playing the role of a horrible racist skinhead, it's Patrick Stuart playing the role of a Patrick Stuart character who is coincidentally also a horrible racist skinhead. Darcy comes across as a tired old man, someone who just wants to get some unpleasant business over and done with as quickly as possible so that he can go home and have a nice mug of tea. It just so happens that the unpleasant business in this case is murdering a group of friends to cover up another murder. Stewart's kind and grandfatherly demeanour also helps add to the film's chills, giving the gang of skinheads an almost cultlike feel as they try to please him.

It's an unconventional but absolutely inspired casting choice.
