10 Ridiculous Comic Book Castings (That Actually Totally Worked)
9. Michael Chiklis - The Thing (Fantastic Four)
Why It Was Ridiculous: The notion of Vic Mackey from The Shield playing a kid-friendly interpretation of The Thing just didn't sit right with me at all. Sure, it's totally my own inability to separate the actor from his most famous character, but Michael Chiklis played that part to such chilling perfection that it seemed he'd naturally stick comfortably within that racket rather than go in a totally opposite direction. The Result: Chiklis was a big fan of the Fantastic Four, and it really shows in the final product, because he's just about the only actor in either of the films who escapes with their dignity intact. It helps that he looks fantastic when kitted out in the orange rock suit post-transformation, but his gruff voice lends itself perfectly to the character, and was the only one of the four who was even remotely like his comic book counterpart. Kudos.
