10 Ridiculous Harry Potter Fan Theories (That Might Just Be True)

7. Neville Was The Chosen One

"The odd thing is, Harry," Dumbledore told the boy wizard during The Order Of The Phoenix, that the prophecy of the Chosen One - a wizard born in the seventh month of the year, to parents who had tussled with Voldemort before, who would be €˜marked as an equal€™ by He Who Shall Not Be Named, possess a power the Dark Lord didn€™t, and ultimately kill Voldemort - €œmay not have meant you at all.€ The prophecy €œcould have applied to two wizard boys,€ he explains, €œOne, of course, was you. The other was Neville Longbottom." But what if Neville actually is the Chosen One, still? Theorists argue that he is. Although Harry was €œmarked€ by Voldemort with that snazzy scar, Neville played a huge role in defeating the Dark Lord. Let us not forget, that while Harry wasn€™t hunting for Horcruxes, Neville was rallying the troops at Hogwarts. When Potter was €˜dead,€™ Longbottom was still standing up to Voldemort. And, as the battle raged on, it was Neville that killed Nagini, the final Horcrux, by wielding the sword of Gryffindor. That€™s the behaviour of a gallant hero, in anyone€™s books. But what€™s the €˜mark,€™ and what€™s the power Voldemort doesn€™t possess, in Neville€™s case? Perhaps the €˜marking him as an equal€™ shtick actually refers to Voldemort torturing Neville€™s parents into insanity, gifting him with an €˜equal€™ upbringing to his - essentially, that of an orphan. And, maybe the €˜power€™ Voldemort doesn€™t possess is Neville€™s acute knowledge of Herbology€ Okay, maybe not.
