3. Harry Is Immortal
Either must die at the hand of the other, for neither can live while the other survives, stated the prophecy of the Chosen One and his part in Voldemorts death. This, ultimately, came to mean that Harry had to kill Voldemort, in order to stop his reign of terror. However, one fan theory suggests an alternate reading of the prophecy. This theory takes the wording either MUST die at the hand of the other, to mean that Harry can ONLY die by killing Voldemort, and vice versa. According to this theory, now that Voldemort is dead, Harry can never die. Hes become immortal. This would be the ultimate sacrifice for Harry. In immortality, hed never be able to reunite with his dearly departed parents and manifold dead friends in the afterlife. By choosing to kill Voldemort to save the world from his tyranny, Harry ensured that hed be The Boy Who Lived for all eternity. This theory is a tragic one, then, and one with a real air of plausibility to it. Perhaps, in The Cursed Child plays, Rowling will address the theories of Harry being immortal.
