10 Ridiculous Movie Controversies That Went Nowhere
8. Ghostface Has A Shotgun - Scream VI
Scream fans sure are a vocal, passionate bunch, and as soon as the first teaser trailer for Scream VI revealed Ghostface holding a shotgun, they sure had some things to say about it.
Many felt that Ghostface totting a shotgun was just one step too far for a slasher movie villain primarily known for using knives.
Yet many fans who cried foul that Ghostface doesn't use guns evidently have incredibly short memories, given that the overwhelming majority of the series' killers have handled firearms at one point or another.
And more to the point, in a series so aggressively concerned with breaking rules and subverting expectations, it seems awfully close-minded to complain about Ghostface using a shotgun.
Ultimately fans got their tantrums out of the way and saw the movie in droves regardless, making it one of the series' highest-grossing entries to date.
As for the shotgun? Ghostface wielded it in just a single scene, which cemented both the gritty New York setting and heightened aggressiveness of the new antagonist.
