6. London Gets Blown Up - G.I. Joe: Retaliation
We all knew from the trailer that London was going to get decimated in G.I. Joe: Retaliation, though I for one didn't expect it to happen in such an entertaining, shocking and surprisingly clever way. The scene in question occurs when Zartan, who is impersonating the President of the United States (Jonathan Price), convinces every world leader at a summit to surrender their nuclear arsenal, at which point the POTUS reveals his own weapon, which he promptly unleashes upon Central London, blowing it to smithereens in mere seconds. Just as shocking is the flippancy of it; it can be assumed that millions of people would have died in the attack, but it's barely mourned or mentioned at all; it is the least sentimental film with regard to mass slaughter I have seen in quite some time.
