10 Ridiculous Performances That Totally Derailed A Movie
4. Jodie Foster (Elysium)
It's 5 months since Elysium came out, and I still haven't figured out what Jodie Foster was thinking when she decided to play one of the film's villains, Defense Secretary Delacourt, with one of the strangest accents in the history of cinema. It sounds like a mixture of French, English and German, and if the idea was that "in 150 years time we wouldn't all be speaking the same way", it's a point rendered moot by the fact that everybody else in the movie speaks just how we do today. Thankfully Elysium had a number of problems anyway, but it's an enjoyable enough action film, except for the fact that it's completely difficult to take seriously every time Foster is on screen. In fact, she was very lucky not to receive a Razzie nomination for her terrible, misguided work here.
