10 Ridiculous Reasons Why Oscar Voters Picked Their Winners

2. Best Actor Goes To Michael Keaton Because He Seems Like €œA Sane Person€

Critics have given all kinds of reasons why Michael Keaton should win Best Actor this year for his work in Birdman - that it's a kind of 'lifetime achievement award', that he's had the biggest and best comeback of the year, while some even say that he deserves it for the virtually unprecedented reason that he's actually the best actor. Not so this guy over at public relations, who chose Keaton for the solid reasoning that "I love him". Reasons for this are manifold: the voter "loved every interview he's done", Keaton "seems grateful, not particularly needy" and Keaton was, in her eyes, "a completely sane person". What is interesting about this particular vote is that one of the voter's reasons for choosing Keaton was that she felt Keaton's work was "harder" than the other nominees in the category because "they had the benefit of playing real people". Typically, Academy voters base their acting votes on thesps doing a particularly good imitation of a real person, so kudos to this voter for realising that actors just straight-up making characters out of thin air have their work cut out too.
