1. Best Editing Goes To Boyhood Because Cutting 12 Years Of Crap Cant Be Easy
The public relations voter had a positively schizophrenic view of Boyhood, granting it a win in three categories - Best Director, Best Supporting Actress and Best Editing - and slamming it elsewhere. For Best Original Screenplay, she chose Birdman because Boyhood's screenplay made it feel "like they just turned on the camera once a year", and placed Boyhood low in her Best Picture choices because "if you told me when I saw Boyhood that it would win best picture... I would have told you that you were insane." This confusingly passive-aggressive attitude towards what this anonymous voter called an "extraordinary" achievement continued with her choice for Best Film Editing. Taking advice for an editor friend, who "confirmed what I already felt", the choice came down to Whiplash and Boyhood. Ultimately, she went for Boyhood, which she called "a unique job", while adding that "cutting 12 years of crap down to a decent length can't be easy."
