10 Ridiculous Reasons Why Oscar Voters Picked Their Winners
3. Best Supporting Actress Goes To Patricia Arquette Because She Didn't Have Work Done In 12 Years
Moving onto this year's Oscars, you have a longtime member of the public relations division of the Academy giving her take on Best Supporting Actress. Although she felt Meryl Streep was great in Into The Woods, this voter wished the film had "stopped after 20 minutes", so she regrettably had to look elsewhere to cast her vote. In doing so, she looked past the "pretty good" Emma Stone to the favourite, Patricia Arquette, for her work playing a mother that you witness ageing from her 30s to mid-40s in Richard Linklater's Boyhood. It's not because of Arquette's acting skills that the actress deserves the Oscar, mind, but the fact that she didn't have "work done during the 12 years" that Boyhood was made. The voter goes on to call the Best Supporting Actress award this year "a bravery award", in recognition of the fact that "You're braver than me. You didn't touch your face for 12 years. Way to freakin' go!"
