10 Most Ridiculous Rom-Com Premises In Cinema History

1. Mannequin €“ Man Falls In Love With Cursed Inanimate Object

Taking the #1 spot is the ludicrous 80s cult hit Mannequin, which revolves around Jonathan Switcher (Andrew McCarthy), a young man who starts working at a department store. He falls in love with one of the mannequins there, Emmy (Kim Cattrall), who actually comes to life by way of an Ancient Egyptian prayer to the gods centuries earlier. I'm honestly not kidding. However, she is only alive for Jonathan, and to others is simply a mannequin, albeit a very fetching one who helps Jonathan climb the career ladder at his firm. In the end, Jonathan triumphs over their business competitors who want to "kidnap" Emmy, and ends up marrying her in the very shop window they so nicely decorated together. It's sappy, it's cornball, but most of all, it's totally frigging ridiculous. Still, we got a pretty awesome Starship song out of it, right? Are there any more crazy rom coms I missed? Let me know!
