4. Co-star Allergy - Captain Marvel

As many directors know, chemistry between the main actors in any film is essential for its success. In most cases, the reasons why this chemistry isn't there often include miscasting, actors refusing to make an effort or simply not getting along.

However, you wouldn't expect allergic reactions between stars to be the issue, as co-directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck encountered during Captain Marvel. This was due to Brie Larson's severe cat allergy, which rendered her unable to be in the same room as Goose, a feline who features prominently throughout the film. It even became the joke on set - with Larson easily doing ridiculous stunts but then showing serious concern as soon as Goose was mentioned.

To tackle this, Boden and Fleck had to get creative. They decided to go between three versions of Goose as needed: a CGI rendition when absolutely necessary, a lifelike puppet and actual Tabby cat Reggie for when Larson didn't have to be there.

Thankfully, Goose interacted with Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury more than any other character, making it easier for the co-directors. In the end they did pull it off, as many would struggle to tell the difference between the three Gooses (or Geese).
