6. Austin Butler's Physical Woes - Elvis

It seems like we can't get through a whole year without someone injuring themselves on set. This time, we have Austin Butler's ordeals filming the Elvis biopic.

All was going alright until the Burning Love montage, where Butler needed to throw guitars back and forth. Due to the nature of the montage, rapid jumpsuit changes were required. One such jumpsuit included a heavy cape which he had never tried before. So as he launched the guitar back, it caught the cape. His reaction was to tilt the guitar, causing it to smash his face in an injury that required stitches to treat. He still executed the throw perfectly, though. Bless him.

Overall, the shoot took an immense physical toll on Butler. So much so that, the day after filming wrapped, he woke up at 4am in excruciating pain, having to be rushed to the hospital. It later transpired that he contracted an appendicitis-simulating virus.

Rendering him bedridden for a week, he later described it as his body "shutting down" after he finished Elvis. While some would argue that it's a small price to pay for a potential Oscar win, I'm not sure Butler would agree.
