10 Ridiculous Ways Actors Got Into Character For Oscar Nominated Roles

9. Michael Fassbender Studied Ashton Kutcher - Jobs

When asked what he did in order to get into character for his role as Apple guru Steve Jobs for last year's biopic of the same name, Michael Fassbender replied: "I studied Ashton Kutcher." That response alone is enough to warrant the actor's inclusion on this list of ridiculous things done by actors in order to garner an Academy Award nomination, because why in the world would anybody look to Ashton Kutcher for inspiration? Fassbender was half-jokingly referring to the fact that Kutcher played Steve Jobs in another Steve Jobs biopic a couple of years ago (called "Jobs"), of course, but the actor insisted that he was being genuine when he said that he looked to the performance. No offence to Ashton Kutcher, but Jobs was a terrible movie. And although Kutcher wasn't really awful in the movie, his portrait of the iconic billionaire left a lot to be desired. Especially since you get the sense that they only cast him because he looked like the man in question (unlike Michael Fassbender, who does not look like him at all).
