10 Most Ridiculous Ways Movie Characters Cheated Death

6. Ethan Hunt's Missile Gymnastics - Mission: Impossible III

Ch2 I used to love the show Deadliest Warrior. It taught me a lot about how people have killed other people throughout the ages. One of the episodes in particular focused on explosives and to test the damage that they do to the human body. The results pretty much concluded that if you were close enough to a blast to be thrown, you would likely die. Laughing at these facts, we find Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt frantically running across Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel to avoid being exploded by an incoming missile in Mission: Impossible III. Although he manages to escape the immediate blast radius, when the explosion occurs he his thrown into the air like a ragdoll and smashes off a nearby car. If the force of the blast didn't do it, being thrown full tilt into a car would be the end of you. You would expect that he would at least act as if he was a bit sore. Not so friends: Ethan Hunt feels no pain. This only adds to the theory that Tom Cruise cannot be harmed while running, which can only be good for him as he does it a lot. The Mission: Impossible films feature a lot of implausible methods of espionage and survival, but being missile proof is a whole new level of invincible.
