10 Ridiculously Good Decisions Which Saved Your Favourite Movies

Avatar is often criticised for being an unoriginal story, in truth If you replace several worlds in the script it is just the story of Pocahontas, no really, look it up.

While it may not be original or clever, it was still a truly unique cinematic experience that smashed box office records. It became the top grossing film of all time for 10 years until beaten by Avengers Endgame, and even that had to have 19 films in buildup to equal Avatar.

James Cameron has often been on the forefront of film making, with many of our favourite films under his belt. Fresh from his career high of Aliens and the first two Terminator films, he had the idea for avatar in 1994 originally scheduled for a 1997 release. However Cameron rather wisely recognised that technology was not in a state where it could portray his vision, and made the incredible decision to wait 25 years for CGI technology to catch up with him rather than Alter it.

Had it been made with the CGI of the time it was conceived Avatar would have been nothing like the success it has been. The verdant world of Pandora and its plethora of exotic creatures may have just been another failed 90s CGI flick. By waiting decades for technology to catch up with him Cameron put his name on the list of top grossing movies for the second time in his career, and is likely to equal the feat again with the upcoming Avatar 2.
