10. Iko Uwais As Rama - The Raid: Redemption (2011)

If you€™re a guy and you haven€™t seen 2011€™s The Raid or its recent sequel The Raid 2 then you need to turn in your man card immediately. Who would have thought that an Indonesian martial arts movie directed by a Welshman would turn out to be one of the greatest action movies in recent history? Now, pretty much any character from this film could have been included on this list but we€™re going to look at the film's lead simply because he's one of the only characters to actually survive this brutal bloodbath. The film's story is actually quite brilliant in its simplicity; a squad of police officers enter an apartment block on the ground floor, the bad guy is on the top floor. What follows is scene after scene of inventive fight sequences, with a surprisingly well-rounded performance from lead actor Iko Uwais as rookie SWAT unit member Rama. While the film begins with Rama showing his emotional side, bidding his pregnant wife goodbye, he quickly shows that he's no slouch when it comes to hand to hand combat. After his unit is essentially killed off, Rama single handedly takes on what feels like hundreds of bad guys. Who needs back-up when you have this guy on your squad?
