10 Ridiculously Overused Movie Locations

5. Vasquez Rocks

Yes, that pile of rocks in the background might seem like any ordinary, dispassionate formation, but it's the most iconic dispassionate formation in the history of cinema. The so-called Vasquez Rocks are situated in Agua Dulce, California, and have been the setting of numerous science fiction shoots, from the original William Shatner Star Trek series (the infamously stilted fight against Gorn was filmed there) to the scenes set on Vulcan in the fourth movie, and then the above scene from J.J. Abrams' Star Trek reboot. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4SK0cUNMnMM The rocks have become a prolific mainstay in both TV and film, appearing in movies such as Short Circuit, Little Miss Sunshine, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Blazing Saddles, Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey, Austin Powers, 127 Hours and...John Carter... If you thought a hunk of rocks couldn't become more famous than you, it appears that you are indeed mistaken.
