7. Farts

Stock movie fart noises are generally pretty memorable, because they're normally employed in a scene that's hilarious (or supposed to be). Nothing, however, tops the famous toilet scene from Dumb and Dumber, both for its hilarity and for its use of just about every fart and defecatory sound effect in the library. Whether it's the wet fart, the splatter fart, or the squeaky fart, this scene covers all of its bases, and in that stead draws attention to just how overused the effects are. How is this? Well, it's hard not to watch the scene and, while cracking up at the absurdity of it all, not realise that you've heard these sounds before; they are individually some of the most prolific toilet sound effects in Hollywood, and together, they make for an uproariously funny scene that has no doubt haunted Jeff Daniels ever since.
