10 Robert De Niro Movies That Suck More Than Dirty Grandpa

8. The Killing Season

In another universe The Killing Season would have teamed Steven Seagal and Dolph Lundgren, and if that version happened it would at least have been intentionally trashy. Instead, we have De Niro and John Travolta facing off against each other in the woods. Bobby is a former soldier and Travolta is a Serbian mercenary seeking revenge; at least he says he€™s Serbian, the accent is hard to pin down. The Killing Season would love to be a profound, moving statement on how war affects the men who fight it and how they can never truly leave the battlefield. It would love to be that, but it€™s not; instead it's a trashy b-movie where De Niro and Travolta maim each other before eventually shaking hands and agreeing that war is bad. The movie could have a solid thriller with some interesting subtext, but the poor direction and lack of subtlety prevents that from happening.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
