7. The Adventures Of Rocky & Bullwinkle
The Adventures Of Rocky & Bullwinkle was apparently a pet project for De Niro, so he has nobody to blame but himself. The film is a combination of live action characters with cartoons, featuring a plot where the famous cartoon characters get mixed up in a scheme by De Niro's Fearless Leader. De Niro is on a one-way ticket to Hamsville in Rocky & Bullwinkle, and the viewer must decide for themselves if thats a good or bad thing. Hes clearly having a blast, but his mock German accent and OTT delivery of every single line quickly grates on the nerves. Plus theres something heartbreaking about watching him do a parody of his You talkin to me? speech from Taxi Driver; its a moment that marks the beginning of his decline. Elsewhere the movie is trying to be a meta-parody and heart-warming family comedy, only to fail miserably at both. The meta stuff is winking way too hard at the audience, and the comedy is so obnoxious youll likely just hate everyone by the end.
