10 Rubbish Horror Films With Decent Soundtracks
6. Resident Evil: Apocalypse
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dW6aNAZGTM&list=PLE4D82E944AE78FF6&index=9Having staged action sequences for XXX, Daredevil and Casino Royale, second unit director Alexander Witt made his feature debut with this sequel to 2002’s Resident Evil, and you can can see why he never made a follow up. It’s not that Apocalypse isn’t slickly shot, well-staged and loaded with slam-bang set pieces, more that the script is so absurd as to be laughable.
Throughout the film, characters whose only purpose is to look “cool”, spin their weapons before holstering them, pull fancy first-person-shooter moves or, if they’re really slick, leap from a helicopter firing two guns simultaneously. In other words, the kind of over-the-top action that Robert Rodriguez serves up as tongue in cheek is here afforded the kind of respect given to a James Bond or Die Hard picture. When there’s a Token Black Guy performing slapstick and delivering lines the calibre of “Motherf**ker please”, that’s a bad idea, but at least the soundtrack CD gives you some cool driving music.
