10 Sad Facts About Star Wars You Just Need To Accept

2. Continuity Is Lost

Thanks to those prequels, there are so many little blaring continuity errors that the illusion of continuity is all but shattered. Why is everything more advanced in the prequels when they're supposed to be set in the past? Why didn't Obi-Wan say something to Luke given how much knowledge he actually has of the events in the prequels. He was once a mysterious mentor who appeared to be protecting Luke from the horrors of his past. Now he just seems like... kind of a dick. The problem with creating prequels is that they create lots of opportunities to render the victories of the previous work redundant. The golden rule is "always leave 'em wanting more" not "painstakingly over-explain all the cool sh*t until the words have no meaning any more".
