3. The Story Ended Decades Ago
There's an alternate universe out there in which Star Wars was left alone after Return of the Jedi. In this alternate universe, those three movies are still lauded as some of the most important to have ever been produced by human minds. A sprawling masterpiece of sci-fi, untouched by remasters and prequels; a rare piece of American art work, free from bastardisation. Fingers crossed the boffins at the Large Hadron Collider figure out a way to get there. Return Of The Jedi is the end of pure-blooded Star Wars. Everything afterwards just cashes in on their success and every little bit more we get - from the Expanded Universe, prequels, sequels, books, comics, games - just thins the perfection of that original trilogy that little bit more, 'til it starts to taste like over-diluted juice.
