2013 was the year of the divisive summer blockbuster; and Iron Man 3 was no exception. Though it ruled the summer box office and stands as the highest-grossing film of the year, many left the film with a bad taste in their mouths; and the Mandarin twist was just the tip of the iceberg. One thing we can all agree on, however, is the House Party Protocol sequence, featuring Tony Stark's insomnia-inspired variant Iron Man projects, including the iconic, fan favourite Hulk Buster. It's a bit of a shame that the sequence was ruined in all of the marketing, because seeing dozens of Iron Man suits in action at once, independently fighting, flying, and blowing up bad guys would have been a great surprise. It's a shame also that Marvel now presumably won't be able to use any of those variant suits in future Iron Man appearances, unless they're willing to dull their impact. Nevertheless, the sequence was truly thrilling and exciting; especially considering the pretty lacklustre two hours that preceded it.
